Wildcats stomp Savage Storm

ABILENE – The 20th-ranked ACU Wildcats had little trouble running their winning streak to nine straight matches Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State in a Lone Star Conference volleyball match at Moody Coliseum.
The win pushes the Wildcats to 22-3 overall and 10-0 in the LSC, while the Savage Storm fall to 6-14 and 3-7. ACU will be back in action next week when it takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville in Kingsville on Thursday.
The Wildcats put this one away in the first two sets, committing just two errors (one in each set) and hitting .481 in the first set and .409 in the second set. The Wildcats took the first two sets by the scores of 25-14 and 25-8 to roll up a quick 2-0 lead, taking only 30 minutes to win the first two sets.
Southeastern showed some flashes in the third set, taking a 13-11 lead over the Wildcats before ACU rallied. The set was tied 20-20 before ACU ran off five of the last seven points to win the third set, 25-22, to take the match.
Sophomore Kalynne Allen led the Wildcats with nine kills and hit .421(19 attacks, one error), while freshman Neely Borger had seven kills. Shawna Hines, Jennie Hutt and Jordan Schilling had six kills, while Ijeoma Moronu had 29 assists and 17 digs.
