SAN ANTONIO -- The ACU Wildcats finished a strong third Tuesday at the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational golf tournament at The Dominion Country Club.
The Wildcats -- seventh after Monday's first round -- moved up to finish third in the three-round tournament, finishing at 887 (301-293-293) over the par-72, 6,937-yard layout.
Tournament host St. Mary's won the tournament with a three-round total of 866 (287-288-291) with Dallas Baptist finishing second at 884 (297-296-291). Following ACU, Northerastern State (301-286-308) and Newman (303-295-297) finished tied for fourth at 895 to round out the top five teams.
For ACU, freshman
Alex Carpenter turned in another solid individual performance, finishing tied for ninth at 2-over-par 218 after firing rounds of 75, 72 and 71.
Cyril Bouniol rebounded from a rough opening-round 79 to finish tied for 16th as he shot rounds of 69 and 73 over the final 36 holes to finish at 5-over-par 221.
Adam Carpenter -- Alex's twin brother -- finished tied for 22nd at 223 (73-77-73), while
Tyler Sheppard finished tied for 29th at 225 (74-75-76).
Kyle Dickerson was tied for 73rd at 239 (81-81-77).
Morgan Johnson was playing unattached for the Wildcats and finished tied for 53rd at 233 (73-76-74).
ACU will close out its fall schedule Oct. 12-113 at the Queens University of Charlotte Invitational at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
