WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - Abilene Christian men's golf wrapped up the JT Poston Invitational in 10th place at Waynesville Inn and Golf Club on Tuesday. The Wildcats carded a 13-over 853 amongst 15 teams in their first tournament of the 2025-26 season.
Thomas Buisson paved the way for ACU in tying for 22nd place on the individual leaderboard at 1-over 211, rising 11 spots from the previous round. With a 3-over 283 final round, the Wildcats broke out of a tie for 10th place after rising from 12th place in Sunday's first round.
Southern Miss captured the team title at 13-under 827, finishing one stroke ahead of Kennesaw State. Host Western Carolina's Tyler Jones secured the individual crown, scoring 10-under 200.
Buisson recorded his second consecutive round of 1-under 69 to cap off his week, firing five birdies on Tuesday to give him 13 for the tournament. It's his best placement since tying for 16th place at the Kosati Pines Intercollegiate in 2024 and the third-highest of his career. Buisson's 1-over 211 is the fourth-best score of his four-year career after he produced the Wildcats' best mark on par 4 holes at even-par.
Jack Hollingsed followed in a tie for 45th place at 6-over 216 after logging a 2-over 72 in the third round. He shot 2-under 32 on the front nine and led ACU on par 3s at 3-over. Hollingsed paced the Wildcats with 35 pars.
Grégoire Hoyeau and
Tres Hill matched each other in ties for 57th place at 8-over 218. Hoyeau carded a 5-over 75 on Tuesday, while Hill registered a 3-over 73. Hoyeau powered the Wildcats on par 5s at 7-under, while Hill, an Oklahoma City transfer, led the team in birdies with 14.
Colin Leonard put forth his best round of the tournament with a 1-under 69 to close things out. He tied for 65th place at 9-over 219 with six birdies in the final round, including four in a row on holes No. 6-9.
ACU returns to the course on Sept. 29-30 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Rice at Westwood Golf Club in Houston. The Wildcats placed second at the event last season.
