Carpenter follows brother to win

Final results

DUNCAN, Okla. -- One week after his twin brother won the individual championship at the season-opening Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate, Alex Carpenter did the same thing for ACU at The Territory Classic.

Alex Carpenter finished Monday and Tuesday's tournament at The Territory Golf Course with a two-round total of 140 after firing rounds of 72 on Monday and 68 on Tuesday.  Alex Carpenter finished at 4-under-par 140 to finish one stroke ahead of Nic Tacher of Dallas Baptist, who fired rounds of 71 and 70.

Tacher led a Dallas Baptist team that fired a second-round 287 to capture the team championship in a playoff over St. Edward's.  ACU was a strong third, finishing at 579, rebounding after a slow start and seventh-place finish last week at the Coody Intercollegiate.

Last week at the Coody Intercollegiate, Adam Carpenter won the individual title in a playoff.  Tuesday, his brother, Alex, didn't need extra holes to win the individual title.

Alex Carpenter did his best work on the par-5s at the par-72, 7,098-yard layout, shooting 5-under-par on the par-5 holes.  He also racked up seven birdies in two rounds.

Cyril Bouniol finished tied for third at 142 (71-71), while Tyler Sheppard finished tied for 16th at 148 (77-71).  Morgan Johnson finished tied for 35th at 151 (75-76), while Adam Carpenter finished tied for 53rd at 155 (75-80).
