ABILENE --
Courtney Wilson's goal in the 69th minute of play Sunday afternoon propelled the ACU Wildcats to a 1-0 win over East Central in Lone Star Conference women's soccer action at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
The win pushes ACU to 7-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the LSC, while the Tigers fall to 4-3-2 and 2-2. ACU will be back in action next weekend with a pair of road matches at Southwestern Oklahoma State (Friday, 4 p.m.) and Central Oklahoma (Sunday, noon).
The Wildcats dominated play on Sunday, peppering ECU goalkeeper Natalie Wilson with 22 shots, including 15 shots on goal. ACU finished the first half with 13 shots, but couldn't put the ball in the net despite several good chances.
But Wilson finally broke through midway through the second half when she took a pass from
Jordan Reese and put it past Natalie Wilson for the first goal of the game at the 69:38 mark of the second half.
The ACU defense was able to hold off the Tigers for the final 21:22, keeping them off the scoreboard as the Wildcats recorded their fourth shutout of the season.
Starting goalkeeper
Crissy Lawson played 80 minutes before leaving with a back injury, but she saw only four shots against her.
