Wildcats Shutout in Finale, 3-0

WICHITA FALLS – The ACU women's soccer team suffered their second loss in three games falling at Midwestern State 3-0 on Friday. The loss drops the Wildcats to 10-6-2 and 5-3-2 on the season while MSU improved to 12-3-2 and 6-3 in the Lone Star Conference.

 Early in the second period Kat Bernick took a pass from Kari Bristow for the first points of the game as ACU had held the Mustangs without a shot in the first period. Kelsey Hill then scored two goals between the 55th minute and the 64th minute to put the game out of reach for the Wildcats.

In the second half MSU kept goalkeeper Crissy Lawson busy as she recorded six saves on nine shots. ACU was only able to manage two shots in the second period as they were outshot in the game 12-9.

The Wildcats entered the game ranked No. 7 in the South Central Region, and may be on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament. The final regular season poll will be released November 4 with the NCAA Tournament selections taking place November 9. 

The Wildcats can however secure an automatic bid by winning the LSC Tournament next weekend at the site of the No. 1 seed. ACU drops to fourth place as Central Oklahoma still leads the conference chased by West Texas A&M and Midwestern who all will finish their regular season's on Sunday.

The Wildcats have clinched a berth in the LSC Tournament however with the loss they do not get a first round bye. The tournament starts Thursday November 5 and runs through November 8.
