PORTALES, N.M.– Wildcats fell to Eastern New Mexico Friday afternoon 1-0 in a key Lone Star Conference match at ENMU Soccer Field. The loss drops ACU to 10-5-1 on the season and 5-2-1 in the LSC while ENMU improves to 8-8 and 3-4 in the conference.
The Zias scored early in the 26 minute as Brooke Serrano found Jordan Sjue for her first goal of the season. The goal was the 13 of the season allowed by senior Crissy Lawson.
It was the fourth time the Wildcats were shutout this season although ACU outshot ENMU by a 20-8 margin. Lyndsey Womack recorded four shots for the Wildcats however only one was on goal with none finding the back of the net.
The Wildcats moved ahead of West Texas A&M and Midwestern State in the South Central Region to No. 3 after both teams lost last week. The Wildcats and rival #19 West Texas A&M will battle in a game with playoff implications on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at the Pitch in Canyon.
