Former ACU all-America wide receiver Johnny Perkins became the fourth Wildcat to have his jersey retired as his No. 44 was retired at halftime of ACU's 41-3 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State. Perkins, who passed away in April 2007 from complications after heart surgery, is the third former ACU football player to have his jersey retired, joining Wilbert Montgomery (#28) and Jim Lindsey (#10). The only other ACU student-athlete to have a jersey number retired is former ACU women's basketball standout Jennifer Clarkson-Frazier (#25). Perkins finished his career as ACU's all-time leader in both career receptions and yards and was a two-time all-America wide receiver for the Wildcats.
