Former ACU defensive back Danieal Manning became the first Wildcat to start in a Super Bowl when he started at safety for the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI against Indianapolis. The Bears, though, lost to the Colts, 29-17, at Dolphins Stadium in Miami. The game capped a remarkable rookie season for Manning, who moved into the Bears' starting lineup in the third game of the season and ended up starting the final 17 games of the season for the Bears, who finished 13-3 in the regular season and made their first appearance in the Super Bowl since January 1986 in Super Bowl XX. One of the highlights of Manning's season was his interception of Brett Favre in the season-opener in Green Bay.
