Nicodemus Naimadu won his third straight NCAA Division II cross country national championship, and led the Wildcats to their first team national championship in cross country in Pensacola, Fla. Naimadu became the first NCAA Division II male athlete to win three national titles, and in 2007 will try to become the first NCAA athlete to win four individual national titles. The Wildcats' team national championship is the 58th national championship in school history and 51st NCAA national title in school history, which is the fourth-most team titles in NCAA hisstory behind only UCLA, USC and Stanford. Second-year head coach Derek Hood was named NCAA Division II Men's National Coach of the Year and Naimadu was named the NCAA Division II Male Athlete of the Year.
