Melanie Carter who completed her four-year women's basketball career in April, 2004 is the third Wildcat to be named the Texas winner of the NCAA Woman of the Year award joining Jennifer (Clarkson) Frazier and Jackie (Bucher) Washington on the list. Carter finishes her career third on the Lone Star Conference and ACU career scoring list with, 1962 points and she is the only Wildcat basketball player to earn first team all-region honors four times.
