Lively invited to NFL Combine
ACU all-America to showcase skills for NFL personnel
ABILENE -- Former ACU offensive tackle Britt Lively has been selected to participate in the NFL Draft Combine, Feb. 18-24, at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind.
Lively, a 6-5, 335-pounder from Silsbee, has drawn interest from several NFL teams, and will have the chance to showcase his skills in front of more than 200 NFL general managers, player personnel directors, scouts and coaches.
Lively is the fourth-ranked small school offensive tackle, according to www.football.com. He is also one of the NFL Draft "sleeper" picks by www.nfldraftworld.com, and he is the 38th-ranked small-college player, according to www.robscouting.com.
Lively is projected to be drafted between the fourth and seventh rounds of the draft, scheduled for April 24-25 in New York. The last Wildcat player to be drafted was Dan Remsberg, the former all-America offensive linemen who was a ninth-round pick by the San Diego Chargers in 1985.
Lively was a standout for the Wildcats after transferring to ACU from Texas A&M prior to the 2001 season. As a senior he was named first team all-America by the American Football Coaches' Association and Dopke.com College Sports Report, and was named to the Associated Press Little all-America team.
In addition to his three all-America honors, Lively was named first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division and first team Daktronics NCAA Division II all-West Region. He also played in the Whataburger Cactus Bowl, an all-star game for some of the top players in NCAA Division II. He helped his West team win the game, playing almost the entire game along the offensive line.
