Biography

2023-2024: Indoors – did not compete. Outdoors – threw is 9 meets outdoors, concentrating mostly on
the discus. Highlights from the regular season included a 2 nd place finish in the discus at the Masked
Raider Open “B” section in Lubbock; 3 rd place on the DT at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio; and 7 th
place finishes in the DT at ACU’s Wes Kittley Invitational, the Joe Gillespie Invitational in Stephenville,
and the Corky Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech (where he threw a new PR of 160-2/48.83). Stone
concluded his season by placing 8 th in the WAC Championship in the DT, therefore scoring a point at his
first-ever conference championship.

2022-2023: Took a redshirt season both indoors and outdoors during this school year. Did compete
unattached in 2 outdoor meets in the discus.

Before ACU: Stone lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and T&F at Childress HS and was Academic
All-State in both basketball and T&F. At the Region 1-3A meet held at Elmer Gray Stadium in 2023, he
placed 4 th  in the discus and 10 th  in the shot put, just missing going to state by a few feet in the discus. In
the summer of 2023 competing in the Oklahoma Throwing Series, Stone won the shot put and placed
3 rd  in both the discus and hammer throw. HS bests include 47-11 in the shot put; 164-1.5 in the discus;
and 141-2 in the hammer throw.

Personal: 2022 graduate of Childress HS, where he was also in National Honor Society, Student Council
and FFA. His parents are Stran and Jennifer Smith. Stone’s father, Stran, competed collegiately at West
Texas A&M in rodeo, followed by a professional rodeo career that led him to qualify for the Wrangler
National Championships 11 times and included being the 2008 World Champion Tie-down Roper.
Stone’s mother, Jennifer, spent 15 years as a equine TV announcer for ESPN and other networks.
Together, Stran and Jennifer were inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2021. Stone married
former ACU javelin thrower, Kaitlyn Grace Callaway, on December 21, 2024.
