Before ACU: Running in one of the top sprint districts in the state, Marquis got 12^th in the 100 and 15^th in the 200 at the District 11-6A meet. HS Bests of 11.17 in the 100 and 23.25 in the 200. Marquis has several relatives who have excelled in track and field, including: Kendall Sheffield (current NFL player and former state hurdle champion for Fort Bend Thurgood Marshall HS); JaCorian Duffield (6 time All-America and the NCAA Division 1 indoor and outdoor high jump champ in 2015 for Texas Tech); and DeMeeka Jones (former All-America hurdler for University of Houston). Also lettered in football during his time at DeSoto HS.
