2024-25 Track & Field Roster
Biography
Before ACU: Laya’Lapri competed for the Westside Leadership Academy, where she concentrated on
the short sprints – 100, 200 – through her sophomore year. In her junior year, she picked up hurdling
with startling results. By the end of that season, Laya’Lapri finished 5 th in the Indiana Girls 100H (as
anyone who has ever seen the movie Hoosiers knows that Indiana is the only state that contests all of
their HS athletics in a single division, regardless of size) in a school record time of 14.42, a record that
stood for 20 years after being set by her HS coach. At the indoor state meet during her junior year, she
placed 4 th in the 60H (in her first year of hurdling) and 5 th in the 60 dash. In her senior year (2024), she
placed 2 nd in the 60H indoors and won the IN Girls Region 1 100H outdoors. Laya’Lapri has PR’s of 14.42
in the 100H and 12.22 in the 100.
Personal: Laya’Lapri graduated from the Westside Leadership Academy in Gary, IN, in 2024 – where she
was on the Honor Roll. At ACU, she is a Social Work major.
I chose ACU because I see it as a good opportunity to grow as a person, find who I truly am, and get closer to God.
What is your favorite thing about ACU? My favorite thing is the school spirit. Everyone is so supportive
when it comes to sports and I love that.
