Before ACU
Donovan was 2nd team all-district in basketball as a senior before having a huge T&F season that moved him into the upper echelon of high school jumpers in America. At the Region I-3A meet in the spring of 2022 held at ACU’s Elmer Gray Stadium, he placed 1st in the triple jump and 2nd in the long jump. His triple jump of 49- 10.75 earned him the #10 best jump in the U.S. for high school jumpers in 2022 and his jump of 24-0 in the long jump placed him #52 in the U.S. He later placed 2nd in the LJ and 3rd in the TJ at the 3A state meet. In his HS junior year, he placed 2nd at the 3A state meet in the TJ and narrowly missed going to state in other events by placing 4th in both the LJ and the 110 hurdles. He left Odessa Compass Academy as the school record holder in both the LJ and TJ.
Personal
Graduated in 2022 from Odessa Compass Academy Charter School, where he was President of the National Honor Society. At ACU, Donovan is a Education major with an emphasis in HS History. His parents are Steven and Courtney Ramirez and Cassie Stacey.
Why did you choose ACU? For the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded believers who were willing to push me to be a better athlete every single day in training.
What is your favorite thing about ACU? My favorite thing has to be the amazing friends that have come into my life. They have allowed me to open myself to new things and created the environment for me to be able to grow as a person.
