2008 (Redshirt freshman): Valuable backup for the Wildcats who was a backup at both tackle spots. Tivis played in 11 games for the Wildcats, helping ACU field the top offensive unit in NCAA Division II football. Tivis spent the 2007 season as a redshirt.

High school: As a defensive lineman in 2006, Tivis recorded 48 tackles (eight for loss), seven sacks and one pass breakup. He was a first team all-District 8-3A offensive tackle and defensive end. He was also a first team all-area selection and a Class 3A honorable mention all-state pick.
