Monroe College (2016-17): Third team academic All-American and helped his team to an 8-2 record in 2017.

High school: Ran track and field for two years and wrestled for one year at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, North Carolina. Received an award for team leadership. Named VTO Elite 100 Top 5 Offensive Linemen.

Personal: 2016 graduate of Porter. Ridge High School. Son of Frank and Cheryl McCarthy. Born 16 January 1998.
