Biography

2009 (Junior): Sawyers became a full time starter as she started 55 games and was tied for third in batting average at .333 … she recorded 54 hits and was second on the team with 101 total bases … was second on the team in home runs with 10 adding 41 RBI’s … had 25 extra base hits with 13 doubles and 2 triples … went 3-3 three times including against West Texas A&M (4/25/09) as she recorded 5 RBI 2 doubles and a home run … Sawyers also had a 5 RBI game against Texas A&M-Kingsville (3/21/09) as she added a triple and a home run … finished her junior season with 13 multi-hit games

 

2008 (Sophomore): Started 39 games and played in 52 for the Wildcats in her second year with the team. She hit .272, scored 26 runs, hit six doubles, belted two home runs and drove in 17 runs. Had a season-high five RBI April 5 including a 3-run home run when ACU defeated No. 2-ranked Angelo State 13-10. Her work in the classroom also earned her a spot on the LSC’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

 

2007 (Freshman): Made 26 appearances for the Wildcats with six starts. Finished with a .118 batting average (in just 17 plate appearances). Scored four runs and drove in two runs.

 

High School: Sawyers was a three-year letterwinner for head coach J.J. Johnson at Lubbock Coronado. She was a second team Class 5A all-state selection her senior year after batting .426. Sawyers also was voted to the academic all-state team in 2006. As a junior, Sawyers was a second team all-district selection.
