Will compete for playing time at wide receiver in his first season after transferring from Baylor. 

2007-08 (Baylor):  Sat out the 2008 season and participated on the practice squad.  Named to Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.  As a true freshman in 2007, he appeared in 10 games, all on Baylor’s special teams units.  He averaged 8.0 yards on three punt returns with a long of 16 yards vs. Texas Tech.  He also returned nine kickoffs, averaging 15.3 yards per return with a long of 22 yards against Texas Tech.  He had three kickoff returns and one punt return of 15-plus yards. 

High school:  Earned second team Class 4A all-state honors as senior from Texas Sports Writers Association as return specialist.  McElroy was No. 8 on San Antonio Express-News Area Top 25 list.  As a senior he was a San Antonio Express-News first team all-area selection.  Named to 2006 Texas Football Texas Top 300.  Totaled 3,070 rushing yards and 2,763 passing yards in three-year prep quarterback career.  As a senior in 2006, McElroy was District 29-4A MVP as he rushed for 1,404 yards and passed for 1,210 yards with 35 touchdowns.  As junior, rushed for 1,056 yards and passed for 1,253 yards and 19 touchdowns.  McElroy was also a track and baseball standout for Coyotes.  He Finished fifth in 2007 Class 4A 100 meters (10.65).  McElroy was a first team all-district shortstop as junior after hitting .328 and stealing 17 bases in 17 attempts. 

Personal:  Son of former Baylor all-America safety Vann McElroy, who played nine seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.  He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and played on the Raiders’ 1984 Super Bowl championship team.  Born 10 Dec 1987.  2007 graduate of Uvalde High School.
