One of only three returning players from last year's team, Souza will return as the Wildcats' starting shooting guard after a stellar junior season in which he finished second on the team in scoring average (behind the since graduated Demarcquez Rembert's 15.4 scoring average) with 11.2 points per game.  2005-06 (Junior):  Started 25 games and logged 26.7 minutes per game.  He is one of the Lone Star Conference's most feared long-range experts as he converted on 38-percent of his shots from behind the arc last season.  Scored his ACU career-high of 24 points in a road loss to West Texas A&M on Feb. 14. In that game he hit seven 3-pointers, one short of the school record of eight set by David Baxter in a 2005 game against Angelo State. Souza also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds vs. St. Edward's on Nov. 30. He also scored 23 points in a Jan. 12 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State in a game that saw him hit a season-best nine field goals.  Twice during the season he was perfect from 3-point range in a game, going 3 for 3 against St. Edward's on Jan. 2 and again against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Jan. 26.  Souza finished 11th in the LSC last season in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting on 38.3 percent (59-of-154) of his shots from behind the arc.  He was also sixth in the league in 3-point field goals made, and he was third in the league in 3-point field goal attempts.  Named honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division after the season. Junior college: As a sophomore in 2004-05, Souza helped South Plains to a 21-10 record in a season that ended in a loss to Temple College in the first round of the NJCAA Region V Tournament. As a freshman in 2003-04, he started 10 of 32 games, averaging 9.9 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game.  A two-time member of the Brazilian national team, Souza was an honorable mention all-conference selection as a sophomore at South Plains.  High school:  Played on three Brazilian national championship teams (1999, 2002 and 2003), and was a four-time first team all-state selection (1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002).  Played on the Brazilian team that finished second in the South American Junior Championships in 1998.  Personal:  2000 graduate of Colegio Quorup High School.  Born 01 Feb 1983.
