
ACU Begins Spring Campaign at Hal Williams Collegiate in Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. - Abilene Christian men's golf kicks off a busy spring slate at the Hal Williams Collegiate, hosted by South Alabama at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove. The Wildcats will play two rounds on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start before closing with the final round Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
ACU will travel with a lineup of Thomas Buisson, Grégoire Hoyeau, Jack Hollingsed, Niklas Blalock and Preston Cooper at the par-70, 7,129-yard course.
The Wildcats look to build upon a fall season that featured a pair of top-five team finishes at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic and the Florida Atlantic Invitational. The Hal Williams Collegiate opens a six-tournament spring for ACU ahead of the Western Athletic Conference Championship in McKinney, Texas on April 27-29.
ACU will compete in a tournament in each of the next three weeks, with UTSA's Military City Collegiate in San Antonio on Feb. 23-24 and Lamar's Golden Nugget Invitational in Lake Charles, La. on March 2-3.
The No. 154 Wildcats join a 14-team field in Mobile headlined by No. 13 Illinois, one of seven top-100 programs in the mix, per Clippd. No. 53 Rice, No. 57 South Alabama, No. 58 Memphis, No. 65 Southern Miss, No. 67 Nebraska and No. 87 Southern Illinois will make the trip.
No. 118 Texas State, No. 120 Eastern Michigan, No. 127 Kent State, No. 129 UAB, No. 170 Louisiana Tech and No. 271 Davidson round out the competition. ACU competed at Magnolia Grove from 2017-19 under head coach Tom Shaw at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
ACU registered its top performance of the season in its outing, closing in fourth place at the Florida Atlantic Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on Oct. 27-28, 2025. The Wildcats carded an even-par 576 in two rounds, paced by Hoyeau's tie for 10th place. He matched his career-best distance to par at 3-under 141 with his top effort of the fall. Hoyeau shot at or below par in four rounds across four tournaments.
Buisson followed in a tie for 14th at 2-under 142 to cap a strong fall campaign that saw him place within the top 25 at each of his five tournaments. It was the best placement of the senior's career and featured a 4-under 68 in the second round, the top round by a Wildcat this year.
The Bordeaux, France native shot under par in 10 of 14 rounds in the fall and scored 1-over or better in each event, including under par in his last three. He closed at a career-best 6-under 210 at the Trinity Forest Invitational to draw for 15th.
Hollingsed's best performance of the fall came at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston, where he tied for 36th place. Cooper shot 1-under 215 in two of three events with five of eight rounds below par.
Blalock, who was an NJCAA Division I Honorable Mention All-American at McLennan Community College in 2023-24, is appearing in his first tournament of the year and his second team event as a Wildcat.
