Wildcats Head to Dallas for Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Abilene Christian men's golf returns to action at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club from Sunday to Tuesday. The Wildcats will compete at the event for the eighth time in the past nine years and are coming off a fifth-place performance at last week's Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
Teams will play one round each day, with ACU getting started at 10:35 a.m. Sunday. The Wildcats will travel with a lineup of Luis Buech, Rex Hargrove, Cooper Watson, Maximilian Björnström and Kade McDonough. Buech and Hargrove each landed in the top 15 at Westwood Golf Club in Houston to power ACU.
SMU hosts the Trinity Forest Invitational and is one of four in-state teams alongside ACU, Baylor and Rice. Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Furman, Howard, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, San Diego, South Alabama, Tulsa, UC Davis, UNLV and USC round out the 16-team field.
Trinity Forest Golf Club is ranked a top-10 course in the state and a top-100 public course in the U.S. by Golf Digest. It has hosted the AT&T Byron Nelson and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
Buech and Hargrove each finished below par and registered career bests to power the Wildcats to 2-under 862 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic. Buech came in 10th place at 5-under 211, while Hargrove followed in a tie for 11th at 3-under 213. They also paired up as ACU's top performers at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational.
ACU tied for fourth in the field on par 3s and placed fifth on par 5s at 16-under. Its 58 birdies tied for second-most. Watson made his collegiate debut in Houston while competing as an individual, tying for 36th place at 4-over 220.
Björnström tied for 42nd place at 6-over 222, and McDonough rounded out the lineup in a draw for 52nd at 8-over 224.
