Woodson Tabbed Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above WAC Player of the Week

ARLINGTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's basketball's Erin Woodson became the third Wildcat to be recognized this season with Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Woodson powered ACU to a pair of wins over California Baptist and Southern Utah last week as it rose to the top of the conference standings. With the first WAC distinction of her career, the junior guard joined teammates Meredith Mayes and Payton Hull in earning the WAC Player of the Week accolade this year.

It's the second season in a row that ACU has garnered the WAC Player of the Week award three times, and the first time that three different student-athletes have received it. Woodson was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week on four occasions during her rookie season at Purdue Fort Wayne in 2023-24.

Woodson matched her career high with 23 points to pace the Wildcats in a 70-58 victory against the Lancers in Riverside, Calif. on Jan. 15. She knocked down seven of 15 shots and each of her seven free throw attempts. Woodson brought down five rebounds with two steals and an assist.

ACU limited CBU to a 2-of-25 showing from three-point range, the lowest percentage it has allowed from beyond the arc in a conference matchup since 2022-23.

The Richmond, Va. product followed with a 16-point, nine-rebound effort in an 82-54 dismantling of Southern Utah on Jan. 17. She hit half her shots at a 5-of-10 clip, including both of her two attempts from beyond the arc. Woodson remained perfect from the charity stripe with four free throws and added two steals with an assist. She reached the milestones for 700 career points and 500 points at ACU.

Woodson rose to sixth in the WAC with 14.5 points per game and second with a .473 field goal percentage. She's scored in the double digits in all but two games this season and is averaging 16.5 points per game in conference play, ranking third in the WAC. Woodson is in the top 15 in rebounds, assists, steals and free throw percentage.

Woodson has guided the Wildcats to a 5-1 showing in WAC play, their best entrance to conference action since 2019-20. They are an unblemished 10-0 at Moody Coliseum, their hottest start at home since 2015-16. ACU has won 15 straight games in Abilene, dating back to last season.

Following a bye, ACU aims for its fifth win in a row when it hosts Tarleton State at Moody Coliseum at 1 p.m. Saturday. Former Wildcat women's basketball players are invited to celebrate Legends of Moody, featuring the Wildcat Diaper Derby, presented by Hendrick Health, at halftime.
