ACU Hires Womack as Director of Football Strength & Conditioning

ACU Athletics has hired Zack Womack as its new director of football strength and conditioning.

Womack has more than 20 years of experience working with high-profile colleges, including North Carolina, Illinois, Florida, Memphis and North Texas.

He most recently served as a performance coach with the United Football League.

"Coach Womack is exactly the right person at exactly the right time to lead our young men," ACU head football coach Keith Patterson said. "This summer, he will prepare them both physically and mentally for the upcoming football season."

Womack was an assistant strength coach for the University of Illinois football team from 2005-2010. He then took his first head strength coaching position at East Central University, his alma mater, in Ada, Okla. Womack worked at UNC from 2012-2016, and then was the director of strength and conditioning at UNT from 2016-2022.

He graduated from East Central in 2004, and was a two-year team captain on the Tigers' football team.

Womack is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is a certified coach by USA Weightlifting. He is also a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

Womack and his wife Courtney have three children: GG, Charlee and Walker.
