Box Score ABILENE - Abilene Christian men's tennis stretched its winning streak to seven matches with a 6-1 victory over Lamar at the Teague Center on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats improved to 7-4 this season after an 0-4 start.
ACU set the tone early on in doubles play by winning each of the three matches.
Daniel Morozov and
Benjamin McDonald remained undefeated as a pairing, winning their sixth match over Fabian Anthin and Haruki Omori-Cowie on court No. 1, 6-4.
Ethan Scribner and
Alejandro Verdasco secured the doubles point for the Wildcats with a 6-4 win over Leon Nickel and Louis Drapeau. For good measure,
Merse Deli and Dennis Dutiné picked up a 6-3 victory versus Guy Dagan and Santiago Ledesma.
The Wildcats remained strong in singles play, with Nickel's 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Morozov registering the Cardinals' only point and his fourth straight win. Dutiné got ACU started with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Anthin before Deli took down Omori-Cowie, 6-2, 6-3.
Verdasco clinched the Wildcats' victory with a 7-6(0), 6-4 win against Drapeau on court No. 4.
Martin Delnido built on the lead with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(11-9) takedown of Lukas Hamacher, as he and Verdasco each won their sixth singles matchup in a row.
Tomas Tischner capped off the day by beating Ledesma, 7-5, 6-2, as he recorded his seventh consecutive singles win.
ACU closes out its seven-match homestand on Thursday as it hosts UT Arlington at the Teague Center for its first WAC match of the season.
