ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis kicks off a five-match homestand by welcoming New Mexico to the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion at 1 p.m. Friday. Following a series of cancellations, the Wildcats look to complete their first match since a 5-2 win over Dallas Baptist on Feb. 11.
ACU enters with a 2-6 record after inclement weather forced its bout at Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 14 to be ruled incomplete and canceled a scheduled match at Sam Houston State on Feb. 16. The Wildcats were scheduled to host UTEP on Sunday, but anticipated freezing temperatures resulted in its cancellation.
ACU came away with victories in its last two complete matches against Incarnate Word and Dallas Baptist. The Wildcats earned their first road victory with a 6-1 win over the Cardinals in San Antonio before hosting the Patriots for a 5-2 triumph.

The Lobos are 5-4 this season and find themselves on a three-match winning streak after taking down Weber State, UTEP and New Mexico State. They swept the Wildcats before beating the Miners and the Aggies each by a 4-2 decision on the road.

Maud Vandeputte improved to 6-0 in singles play in dual contests, but is 3-5 in doubles action. Rebekkah Gaines is the Lobos' most frequent competitor at the No. 1 singles position, where she is 1-4. Sofia Taborga and Maria Sodre have each won their last three singles matches and are 6-2 and 5-3, respectively, in dual competitions.
