Wildcats Start Home WAC Play by Hosting Utah Tech, Southern Utah

The Abilene Christian women's soccer team will look to right the course in Western Athletic Conference play at home this weekend after starting the conference season 0-2 with losses at California Baptist and Utah Valley.

The Wildcats, who are 3-0 at home this season, will look to continue their dominance at Elmer Gray Stadium against a pair of Utah schools: Utah Tech on Thursday night, and Southern Utah on Sunday afternoon.

The Thunderbirds and the Trailblazers each opened WAC play with one game last week -- a match against each other in which Utah Tech won 2-1.

ACU freshman goalkeeper Bella Medrano totaled 20 saves in the two losses at CBU and UVU last week, but after seeing 66 total shots in the two games, she was unable to stop everything, leading to a 2-1 loss at CBU and a 5-1 loss at UVU.

While always in the backs of the player's minds, winning will be a little more meaningful this week for the Wildcat squad. Sunday's game is Senior Day for head coach Stephen Salas' team, and nine student-athletes will be honored approximately 30 minutes before the game.

ACU's three home victories this season have all been 1-0 decisions over Tulsa (Aug. 21), Houston Christian (Aug. 24), and Northwestern State (Sept. 11).

Thursday's match against Utah Tech will kickoff at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

Sunday's match in which the Wildcats play host to Southern Utah will stream on WAC International with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
