ABILENE – Abilene Christian battled but lost for the first time this season in Western Athletic Conference action, falling to Seattle 4-3.
Maryjoe Crisologo and
Libby Blair won at No. 2 doubles but Seattle claimed the doubles point with wins in the other two slots.
Andrea Guerrero evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles but SU went up 3-1.
Masha Vrsalovic made it a 3-2 team score with her line three win.
After Seattle had clinched the win,
Maria Cascos battled back from a set down to win at No. 4 singles.
"We started slow and got behind in doubles and then and singles, we fought as hard as we could," said ACU Head Coach
Bryan Rainwater. "We are still trying to build on what we've been doing the past few weeks. I'm proud of the effort to finish it up. We just have to start jumping on them a little sooner. That was the only difference today. I feel good about where we're at though because that's a good team."
The Wildcats try to bounce back Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. contest against Utah Tech.
