ARLINGTON – Hot-shooting Texas-Arlington held off Abilene Christian for a 74-65 Western Athletic Conference win on Saturday.
The Mavericks hit 51 percent from the field and withstood a late run to pick up the win.
ACU was down 13 points in the fourth quarter but was able to narrow the gap to 67-62 with 1:22 remaining but could get no closer in the final 90 seconds.
Payton Hull and Aspen Thornton had 18 points each to lead the Wildcats. Emma Troxell led ACU with eight rebounds with Clare Traeger adding seven.
ACU continues its road swing next week with games Thursday at Utah Tech and Saturday at Southern Utah. Games are at 8 and 3 p.m., respectively, central time.
