ABILENE – Three Wildcat student-athletes were among the Abilene Christian University's University Scholars recognized in April.
Receiving the honor were Addison Bonaventure of the women's soccer team,
Londyn Gray of the volleyball team and
William Harris from the men's track and field team.
Bonaventure, an agriculture and environmental science major from San Angelo, played three seasons at ACU. She played in eight games, starting four, in her final season at ACU.
Gray, a journalism and communications major from Weatherford, played two seasons after transferring from Georgia. She had 145 kills and 55 blocks last fall.
Harris, a management sciences major from Houston will earn his bachelor's degree after three seasons at ACU. He recently qualified for the NCAA regionals in the long jump.
"This is the highest academic award given by the faculty to students who will graduate this calendar year," said ACU's outgoing Faculty Athletics Representative Jonathan Stewart. "It is highly selective and only a few are awarded to each department each year. It is particularly impressive that these students achieved such academic heights while also managing the time demands of being a student-athlete."
