ABILENE – Abilene Christian University Athletics announced recently the appointment of Dr. Vic McCracken to the post of Faculty Athletic Representative.
He succeeds Dr. Jonathan Stewart, who ends his service to the department on May 31.
Dr. McCracken is professor of ethics and theology in the College of Biblical Studies and has served on the faculty at ACU since 2008. During his time at ACU, he has served on the leadership team of ACU's Faculty Senate (2018-2022), as onsite faculty for ACU's Study Abroad program in Oxford (2012, 2022) and Leipzig (2015) and as faculty sponsor for the ACU Chess Club and ACU's International Justice Mission chapter.
"I've had a chance to work with Vic since arriving in ACU in 2021," said ACU Vice President for Athletics Zack Lassiter. "He is the ideal individual to serve in this very important role. I want to thank Jonathan Stewart for his years of service as the FAR. Vic has big shoes to fill but I am confident he can do it."
McCracken said he is looking forward to both the work and the relationships that come with the role.
"During my time at ACU it has been a great pleasure getting to know many student-athletes," said McCracken. "I admire their dedication to athletic excellence, and I am so looking forward to forming relationships with students and the athletic staff. I am thrilled about the opportunity that I will have to serve these students and to collaborate with ACU athletics to ensure that we cultivate a commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom."
