Wildcats Close Out Home Schedule This Week

ABILENE – Abilene Christian wraps up its home women's tennis schedule this week with two important WAC matches.

The Wildcats host New Mexico State at noon on Thursday and finish off the home schedule at 11 a.m. on Saturday against Grand Canyon.

ACU is tied for the sixth with Seattle. The Cats are 2-3 in the league and 8-11 overall. They have a chance to climb while picking up potential tiebreaker wins against GCU and NMSU, which are tied at 4-2 in third place.

Maria Cascos and Olivia Sears lead the Wildcats with 10 singles wins. Cascos has a five-match winning streak rolling and Andrea Guerrero has won her last four.

Cascos and Maryjoe Crisologo have won their last four doubles matches and lead the team with eight wins as partners – all at No. 2.

The Aggies come to town with a 10-9 overall record after one-sided home wins last week against Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin.

Anna Pinaieva, Lisa Zhu and Miranda Bishard have 10 wins each in singles. Bishard and Bella Nguyen have 10 doubles wins.

Grand Canyon is 10-8 on the season after blanking both Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston in Arizona last weekend. They stop off at Tarleton State on Thursday before coming to Abilene.

Madeline Lamoreaux has won 11 straight matches for a 14-4 mark and Santa Strombacha is 5-2. She and Natasha Puehse have won their last eight singles matches and also forge the Antelope's top doubles tandem at 12-3.
