AUSTIN – Eric Martin hit a double and
Garrett Williams singled Wednesday night, but the ACU baseball team absorbed a 20-0 defeat in seven innings at No. 14 Texas at Disch-Falk Field. Those two were the only two hits of the game for the Wildcats, while Texas ripped 12 hits and scored 15 runs in the first three innings.
ACU pitching, featuring six different arms, issued 11 walks and two hit-by-pitches, and the Longhorns used their 12 hits and only left four on base in an efficient offensive night.
Starter
Blake Anderson (L, 4-3) struck out two batters while
Sam Berberich and
Rolando De La Cruz each tallied a punch out as well.
Drake Boggan,
Luke Krkovski, and
Brooks Gay also saw time on the mound Wednesday night.
Jake Skaggs,
Julio Riggs, and
Bobby Serfass all drew a walk, while
Jack Nielsen drew a pair of base on balls in his second start of the season.
ACU (24-12) keeps heading south to Edinburg for a three-game WAC series against UTRGV beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game also starts at 6:30, while Sunday's finale gets underway at 12 p.m.
Texas improves to 27-12.
