SEARCY, Ark. – ACU women's basketball assistant coach Weston Jameson has been hired at Harding University as the new head men's basketball coach. The former assistant at ACU and Arkansas State will return to Harding where he previously served as a women's assistant coach for five seasons. Jameson spent the last two seasons as an assistant under head coach Julie Goodenough.
"The spirited selection of Coach Jameson is another progressive move in the trajectory of Harding athletics," Harding president Dr. Mike Williams said. "He brings tremendous passion, tenacity and mission fit as a former Bison. He is a contemporary coach for a modern game who will build men of character."
Jameson came to ACU after spending a season as the assistant coach at Arkansas State, and prior to that spent five seasons as an assistant at Harding University in Searcy, Ark.
"Weston was a tremendous assistant coach who worked very hard for ACU and our team, and he will definitely be missed," said Goodenough. "I am so excited for him to be able to take over the men's program at his alma mater. This is a dream job for Weston and an opportunity for his family to all be in the same community. We wish him much success at Harding."
He helped ACU's transition to the Western Athletic Conference, where the program went 18-18 in two seasons with a pair of appearances in the WAC Tournament. Jameson was on staff in 2020-21 when the A-State made the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, and in five years with Harding, he helped lead the Bison to a 104-48 record. During his tenure in Searcy, Jameson helped lead Harding to five Great American Conference Tournament berths, two GAC regular-season championship and tournament crown, as well as an NCAA Central Region Tournament title and an NCAA Division II Final Four appearance.
Prior to Harding, Jameson worked as the junior boys head coach and senior boys assistant coach at Central Arkansas Christian School in North Little Rock in 2014-15.
As a player, Jameson dished out 474 assists, which ranks fourth on Harding's career list and helped the Bison to the 2014 GAC Tournament title. During his career, he played in three NCAA Division II Tournaments. Jameson graduated from Harding in December 2013 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. In 2015, he graduated with his Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Southern Arkansas University.
Jameson is married to Lauren Jameson, a member of the Harding women's basketball team from 2010-14, and the couple has two daughters, Berklee and Kelynn, and a son, Harrison.
"I am humbled and honored to be back at Harding University as the next head men's basketball coach," said Jameson. "My family and I would like to thank Dr. Williams and the search committee for their belief in our vision and the opportunity to return to a place that is so special to us. Over the last 30 years under Jeff Morgan, Harding has developed an incredibly successful basketball tradition while playing in one of the best venues in college basketball — Rhodes-Reaves Field House. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to build on that legacy as we work toward constructing a championship-caliber program. I'm looking forward to connecting with our players and starting this journey with them."
The search for Jameson's replacement at ACU will begin immediately.
