January, Burleson Honored by WAC

ABILENE – The Western Athletic Conference on Tuesday named two Abilene Christian track and field athletes for weekly awards.

Jamal January received WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Zoe Burleson won WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

January, a senior from Austin, had his best season-opening time at 13.78 in the 110 high hurdles at the Wes Kittley Invitational. The mark leads the WAC and is sixth in Division I.

Burleson, a sophomore from Rocksprings leads the WAC and is 30th in Division I in the discus with a throw of 167-4 in the Wes Kittley Invitational. She also has the second-best shot put mark in the WAC at 46-11.

"I'm really excited to see Zoe and Jamal start off the season with some solid performances and being named conference athletes of the week," said ACU Head Track and Field Coach Jerrod Cook. "I am looking forward to seeing great things from them and the team this season."
