ABILENE – Abilene Christian came up just short against Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, falling 4-3.
The Wildcats lost a tough doubles point to start singles behind, 1-0, despite a 6-4 win at No. 2 by
Maryjoe Crisologo and
Maria Cascos.
ACU split the singles matches evenly, getting wins in lines four through six by Cascos,
Andrea Guerrero and
Eva Arranz.
"On Friday, playing a team that was favored, we came out fearless and played them tough," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "We didn't execute and we didn't come with that same energy today. We're going to have to play fearless against Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin next week."
ACU faces those two opponents on Friday in Huntsville and Sunday in Nacogdoches.
