SAN ANTONIO – Abilene Christian dropped both games of their first day at the I-35 Tournament, falling to Lamar and Texas-San Antonio.

The Wildcats dropped the opener 6-4.

Sammie Shelander got the Wildcats on the board in the fourth inning on a solo home run, followed by a two-run single by
Sydney Kaiser.

Avery Miloch added an RBI single in the fifth.

Miranda Lista,
Olivia Taylor and
Bubba Rote had two hits each for ACU.

Rote took the pitching loss.
Â
UTSA used an eight-run third inning to take control of the second game for a 15-6 win.

Shelander got the Wildcats off to a fine start with RBI singles in the first and third inning with
Shaylee Alani adding a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 ACU lead.

After falling behind 12-3, ACU kept the game going with an RBI single by Miloch and an RBI double by Rote in the fifth and a sacrifice fly by Shelander in the sixth.

Shelander had three hits in the game to pace ACU's nine-hit attack. Lista added two.

Riley White (0-2) suffered the pitching loss.

The Cats are back in action on Saturday, taking on Lamar at noon and South Dakota State at 5 p.m. in San Marcos.
