Softball Drops Pair to Start Season

Lista collected four hits and Taylor added three for the Cats in losses to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 11-3, and UTEP, 12-2.
The Wildcats scored twice in the third inning of the opener on a sacrifice fly by Shaylee Alani and an RBI double by Oliver. ACU added a fourth run when Miranda "Randi" Davila scored on a fielder's choice by Mercedes Eichelberger.
Lista and Taylor had two hits each in the game.
Riley White took the pitching loss.
The Cats got on the scoreboard in the second inning of the second game when Taylor doubled and later scored on an error. The final run came in the fifth when Rote doubled and scored on a base hit by Eichelberger.
Lista had her second two-hit outing in as many contests. Rote was charged with the pitching loss.
The Wildcats resume action in the tournament on Saturday, playing Murray State at 1 p.m. and UTEP at 4 p.m.
