ABILENE – Abilene Christian faces Utah Tech at 2 p.m. on Saturday, looking for its third win in the last four games.
ACU scored a 26-10 win in the first meeting with the Trailblazers last season.
The pregame festivities will include a flyover, courtesy of Dyess Air Force Base.
ACU Storylines
JOLLY PICKS: Patrick Jolly shares the FCS lead with four interceptions this season. He also has forced and recovered a fumble and has disrupted three other passes. He has 40 tackles on the season, including 2.5 tackles for loss.
RELIABLE BOOT: ACU kicker
Kyle Ramsey leads the FCS in field goal percentage at 100. Ramsey is 11 for 11, including four field goals at over 50 yards. He also is 27 for 27 in extra points. He has scored 60 points through eight games. He is 13th with 1.38 field goals per game and 26th in the FCS with 7.5 points per game.
HAPPY RETURNS: ACU return man
Marcayll Jones is ninth in the FCS in kickoff returns, averaging 25.9 yards per return. His longest came in week two when he took one back 54 yards.
MOFFET SHOW: ACU safety
Elijah Moffett leads the UAC and is sixth nationally with two fumble recoveries this season. Moffett also is second on the ACU defense with 56 tackles and leads the Wildcats with seven tackles for loss. He also leads the team with 40 solo tackles.
GRANT & THE COVER CATS: Grant Nickel ranks fifth in the FCS and leads the UAC in punting. He averages 44.3 yards per punt. The Wildcats are also pretty good at not letting him outkick his coverage. ACU is 12th nationally and second in the UAC, allowing 2.88 yards per return.
TRIPLE TRIO: Three ACU running backs have eclipsed 100 yards this season.
Jermiah Dobbins had 106 at home against Incarnate Word.
Jay'Veon Sunday had 140 at North Texas and 147 at Stephen F. Austin.
Jordon Vaughn joined that group last week with 108 yards at Southern Utah.
GETTING THE YARDS: Wildcat quarterback
Maverick McIvor is 13th in the FCS in yards per completion at 13.74.
Blayne Taylor has been the big-play receiver, averaging 17.54 yards per reception, which is 26th nationally and No. 2 in the UAC. Taylor has five touchdown catches.
Scouting Utah Tech
- The Trailblazers are 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the UAC after a 34-30 loss to Eastern Kentucky in Utah Tech's homecoming.
- Ronnie Walker Jr. leads the Trailblazers with 498 yards rushing. He averages 4.7 yards per carry and has three touchdowns.
- UT quarterback Kobe Tracy is 157 of 289 with nine interceptions and 16 touchdowns. He has passed for 1929 yards.
- Beau Sparks has 56 receptions for 562 yards and seven touchdowns. Rickie Johnson has 566 yards on 43 catches and four touchdowns.
- Dondl Fuller owns 73 tackles and Syrus Webster has six sacks to lead the defense.
