Box Score DENTON, Texas – Freshman
Hannah Vetromile scored the first Wildcat goal of the season Thursday night in ACU's season opener at North Texas. The 'Cats (0-1) fell at the hands of the 16-time Conference USA champion Mean Green (1-0), 5-1, at the UNT Soccer and Track & Field Stadium. The team will return to campus for the home opener Sunday against UTEP.
The Goals
- 28' | Vetromile made her impact right away. After a UNT card,
Macie Stephens sent a ball into the box from out near midfield, and Vetromile got her foot on it. The rookie got an initial shot off that was deflected by a UNT defender, then the Justin, Texas native used the deflection to her advantage to get a second shot off, this time putting in the back right side of the net.
- 29' | Less than a minute later, UNT answered with a score of their own from Allie Byrd.
- 32' | North Texas' Jenna Sheely put the Mean Green in front, 2-1.
- 47' | UNT went up 3-1 early in the second half after a goal from Alexis Truitt.
- 51' | The Mean Green made it 4-1 after a goal from Devyn Flannery.
- 75' | Madison Drenowatz made it 5-1 UNT.
