FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Abilene Christian has been well represented at the NCAA West Preliminary in the first two days, with
Jamal January earning his way into the quarterfinals in the 110 hurdles on Wednesday. On Thursday,
Annina Brandenburg punched her ticket to the National Championships in the shot put with a huge performance and
Taylor Tolen closed out the 100 in the narrowest of fashions to qualify for the quarterfinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Day One
- January advanced to Friday's quarterfinals with a time of 13.89 in the second heat of the men's 110 hurdles.
- Will Harris turned in a 28th place finish in the long jump with a distance of 7.38m (24' 2 ½") , marking the best mark of his ACU career. January followed with a jump of 7.25m (23' 9 ½") to come in 38th place.

Jack Marshall closed out the first day with a time of 20.97 in the 200, turning in a close finish in a loaded field.
Day Two
- After coming ranked 36th in the event, Brandenburg tossed the javelin 47.75m (156' 8") to take 20th place in the region.

Payton Kirk's distance of 6.09m (19' 11 ¾") in the long jump was good enough to claim 22nd place, while
Megan Kirby posted a mark of 5.81m (19' ¾") in the same event.
- After a protest, Brandenburg turned in a top 10 finish and the final spot in the shot put to earn her a trip to Nationals, doing so with a distance of 16.97m (55' 8 ¼").

Taylor Tolen came in 23rd in the women's 100 with a time of 11.57 to beat out USC's Chioma Okonkwo by 0.001 seconds. Tolen later returned in the 200, recording a time of 24.20.

Briahna Gerlach closed out the day for the Purple and White, finishing the 10K in 27th place with a time of 34:40.88.
UP NEXT:
- The Wildcats continue the meet on Friday with a pair of men's competitors, as J.J. Ply will compete in the high jump at 2:30 p.m. followed by January in the 110 hurdles quarters at 6:15 p.m.
