BEAUMONT, Texas – The Abilene Christian women's tennis team saw the 2022 campaign draw to a close, falling 4-3 at the hands of Seattle University in the Western Athletic Conference semifinals. A day earlier, ACU became the first eight-seed to ever upset a one-seed in the WAC Tournament, sending Grand Canyon home empty-handed.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Redhawks took the doubles point with wins in the first and third flights.
- Paula Garrote was the first Wildcat to wrap up her singles match, pulling ACU even with a 6-2, 6-1 win on Court 6.
- Sylvia Viljoen put the Purple and White in front, defeating Jade Quintana 6-3, 6-1 in the third singles flight.
- Seattle picked up the next two points to take a 3-2 lead, but Friday afternoon hero Ileana Mocciola cruised to a 7-6, 6-1 victory to force a decisive point on Court 2.
- Allison Stewart forced a third set in the second flight, but the Redhawks prevailed with a 6-2 win to eliminate the Wildcats from the tournament.
