WALNUT, Calif. – The ACU track and field team took part in the Mt. SAC relays over the weekend, a meet that is widely considered to be among the best in all levels of collegiate track and field.
Annina Brandenburg broke her own school record in the discus for the third time in a month, while J.J. Ply took over the Western Athletic Conference lead in the decathlon.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Four-time WAC Field Athlete of the Week Annina Brandenburg continued her remarkable spring by picking up a pair of PRs, tossing the shot put 16.30m (53' 5 ¾") to claim seventh place. In what has become typical fashion, she also was the top finisher in the discus (57.14m/187' 6"), and she is now top two in the league in both events.Â
- Jamal January turned in a 17th-place finish in the 110 hurdles, doing so with a time of 14.15. The Wildcat junior went on to pick up ninth place in the long jump with a distance of 7.49m (24' 7") on his first attempt of the day.
- J.J. Ply came in fifth in the decathlon with a lifetime-best and WAC-leading 7,857 points after picking up a win in the high jump portion. Â
- Megan Kirby went for a distance of 6.02m/19' 9" in the women's long jump to get 15th place, while Payton Kirk (5.96m/19' 6 ¾") came in 18th.Â
- Ella Antilla gave the Wildcats a 13th-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.12m/39' 9 ¼".Â
