STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Wildcats found themselves down early once again as the Texans put up four runs in the first inning. Despite being down early, ACU found a way to make it a game as they put up runs in the third and the sixth but couldn't mount a comeback dropping the series finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tarleton had six-straight batters reach base in the first and came away with four runs in the frame.
- Hannah Benavides took over in the second inning, giving up two runs in the second as the Texans took a 6-0 lead.
- Matti Reiling drew a walk in the third and was brought home on an RBI triple from Mercedes Eichelberger.
- Tarleton added another run in the fifth to push their lead to 7-1.
- Riley White hit her second homerun in as many days, this time with a runner on to cut the lead to 7-3.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Eichelberger totaled two hits on the day for her 12th multi-hit game of the year.
- White pitched two scoreless innings for the Wildcats, giving up just one hit. Despite not getting a start, White went 4.2 scoreless innings on the weekend.
- Since scoring 16 runs in a win over Lamar, the team has scored just eight runs over their last five games.
ON DECK:
- ACU has four home games next week to close out their home slate at Poly Wells Field. First up for the Wildcats will be the Texas Tech Red Raiders coming to town for a game on Wednesday night a 5 p.m.
