Wildcats fall in tight battle with UTSA

Box Score ABILENE, Texas – The ACU men's tennis team was tripped up on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 in a tight battle against UTSA. The loss is the first for the Wildcats since February 18, when they dropped the opener of the HEB Tournament of Champions before winning the next two matches to close out the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • The Roadrunners took an early lead with a 6-4 win in both of the top two doubles flights. 
  • After losses in the fourth and first singles flights, the Wildcats found themselves down 3-0, but Oswaldo Cano put the Purple and White on the board with a three-set victory on Court 6. 
  • UTSA picked up the clinching point with a win on Court 3, but Dario Kmet and Cesar Barranquero finished off the day with three-set wins in the second and fifth flights respectively.
 
UP NEXT: 
  • The Wildcats are back in action on March 13, when they head south to take on Texas A&M in the final non-conference tune-up of the season.
