Softball completes series sweep at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Wildcats and Cardinals put on an offensive show on Saturday afternoon with ACU coming away with the 9-6 victory. The Wildcats used a big first inning to take a three-run lead but Lamar was able to come back to within a run in the bottom of the third. ACU pushed their lead back to four in the sixth inning and Lamar was only able to push one more run across in the game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Sydney Kaiser brought the first run home with an RBI single in the top of the first.
  • Avery Miloch followed Kaiser with a three-run shot to left field to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.
  • Lamar answered with a single run in the bottom of the first on an RBI double.
  • Kaiser went to work again in the second with a bases-loaded single to bring home two, pushing the ACU lead to 6-1.
  • The Cardinals put up two runs in the second and two more in the third to cut the ACU lead to 6-5.
  • Calie Burris gave the Wildcats a two-run lead with an RBI double in the top of the fourth.
  • ACU put up two more in the sixth inning with Matti Reiling scoring on a wild pitch and then Miloch bringing home Kaiser for her fourth RBI of the day.
  • Lamar was able to plate on run in the sixth, but the Wildcats held off a comeback, winning 9-6.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Sidney Holman-Mansell pitched six of the seven innings for the Wildcats, striking out eight batter on her way to her sixth win of the year.
  • Mercedes Eichelberger extended her hitting streak to six games and her on-base streak to 13.
  • Miloch's homerun was her fourth of the season and she added to her team-leading RBI total, now up to 17 on the season.
 
ON DECK: 
ACU will be back on the road for a midweek doubleheader at Tulsa on Wednesday. The team will play at 3 and 5 p.m.
