ACU downs NMSU to close out strong weekend in Corpus

Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The ACU men's tennis team wrapped up the Tournament of Champions on Saturday, defeating New Mexico State 4-1 in the final match of the weekend. 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHES:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The doubles tandem of Riley Tran and Benjamin McDonald picked up a 6-4 win in the third flight, but the Aggies took doubles and tallied the first point of the day. 
  • Dario Kmet began singles action by pulling the Wildcats even with a 6-4, 6-0 victory on Court 2. 
  • Cesar Barranquero followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #5 singles, and Oswaldo Cano came up with a 6-3, 7-5 victory in the sixth flight to bring ACU on the cusp of the clinch. 
  • Savan Chhabra closed it out with a 6-3, 6-4 victory on Court 4, giving ACU their fourth and final point of the weekend. 
 
UP NEXT: 
  • The Wildcats are back at home next Saturday, when they play host to Texas-Tyler and LeTourneau at Eager Tennis Pavilion.
