ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference announced their men's basketball preseason polls and preseason All-WAC selections on Monday afternoon. Abilene Christian was picked to finish fourth in both the coaches' poll as well as the media poll. The top-five teams were identical in each poll with Grand Canyon coming away with a projected first-place finish. The Lopes were followed by NM State, SFA, the Wildcats and then CBU to round out the top five.
In addition to the polls, the conference released their preseason All-WAC selections with
Airion Simmons earning a preseason first team selection from the coaches as well as being named to the media team. GCU's Jovan Blacksher Jr. was picked as the Preseason Player of the year by both the coaches and the media.
