The Abilene Christian men's basketball team will take on a pair of teams for the first time in program history when they face UTSA and William & Mary in the 2025 Jacksonville Classic in November.
The matchups were announced by officials with the ten-team event on Thursday.
The Wildcats will play the Roadrunners on Monday, Nov. 24. The game will be the last of a quadruple-header that day at Edward Waters University. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, ACU faces William & Mary in the third of four games on the event schedule. Game times will be released in the next few weeks.
Tickets to the Jacksonville Classic, including single-game tickets and tournament passes, are on sale now.
UTSA went 12-19 last year, and tied for 9th place in the 13-member American Conference. Austin Claunch is beginning his second season as the Roadruners' head coach, but is familiar with ACU. Claunch was an assistant at Nicholls from 2016-18, and then was promoted to head coach where he built a 90-61 record from 2018-23. The Wildcats were bunkmates with the Colonels in the Southland Conference until ACU left the league in the summer of 2021.
The Wildcats defeated Nicholls in the 2021Â Southland Conference Tournament championship game to reach their second NCAA Tournament where they defeated Texas in round one.
The William & Mary Tribe finished 17-15 in the 2024-25 season. Despite being the fourth seed in the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament, the Tribe were upset in the quarterfinals by Delaware.
ACU opens its season on Monday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. against McMurry as part of a doubleheader at Moody Coliseum with the Wildcat women's basketball team facing Howard Payne at 5:30 p.m.
